Prepare the workspace#
Start with the departments, roles and designations needed by the first team. Confirm who will administer accounts and who owns sensitive people, payroll and document workflows.
Understand workspace access before assigning permissions. A designation, a reporting relationship and a role serve different purposes.
Invite the first employees#
Use Invite an employee. Prepare the required designation before sending the invitation, then verify the intended account and department.
Do not use another person's credentials to check their experience. Ask an authorized member to follow the employee starting path with their own account.
Validate a useful first workflow#
Choose a task the team needs immediately:
| Team need | Starting guide |
|---|---|
| Deliver project work | Create and assign a task |
| Handle time off | Apply for leave |
| Review knowledge | Submit a document for review |
| Prepare payroll | Prepare a payroll run |
Confirm both the actor's permission and their access to the target records. Review any policy and configuration prerequisites before asking the team to perform the task.
Keep publication audiences clear#
Internal Documents can be shared inside the organization. Website guides require separate publication conditions. Do not enable public publishing as a general solution to a missing internal document.
Read Website publishing when the organization intends to maintain public product guides.
Check the result#
An employee can sign in and find their permitted work; a manager can review the decisions assigned to them; sensitive administrative actions remain with their authorized owners. Record unresolved configuration questions and assign a responsible person before wider onboarding.
